Why is it a good practice of the Person-Centered Model?
It is a good example of person oriented action plan for the person with disability and how it worked and reached good results.

Personalised Care and Support Plan for the Life Project
We drew up an action plan to personalise the study process according to the student’s individual needs. Most of the environment at VIKO, Faculty of Ecomics was adapted to make blind student’s studies more convienent. We stuck big numbers to each classroom to indicate the classroom number. We met with the group of students where the visually impaired young man was studying, so that the students would be more willing to help and cooperate if needed;
We organised a meeting of lecturers to discuss the peculiarities of working with a blind student, the presentation of learning materials and assignments, and the adaptability of exams and written work;
The student was provided with psychological support, if needed, from a distance
Support groups
Mentors at the faculty, all academics and administration, teachers, study division, psychologist.
Case Management and Resource Coordinator
There were special programs installed to make easier for the blind student to study and pass all the tests and exams.
Highlined results
The student successfully graduated from the university, had practice place in the insurance company, then was employed at the same company. That’s a real success story.
Inspiring ideas for other enviorments. It can works! 😉
It’s really important to adapt the environment for the student’s needs and talk about it with the person and make all the decisions together.
